The 2008 US Grand Prix had seen Yamaha rider Valentino Rossi extend his MotoGP World Championship points lead to 25, with rivals Casey Stoner (Ducati) and Dani Pedrosa (Honda) having various difficulties. The Czech Republic race was round twelve, with Rossi a five-time former winner at Brno, Pedrosa with two successes and Stoner last year’s top man.

This site has already brought you the sad news of the week, from the Supersport World Championship. As reported earlier by his Parkalgar Honda team, English rider Craig Jones lost his life following an accident in the race at Brands Hatch last Sunday, during which he sustained head injuries.

PARKALGAR HONDA racer Craig Jones passed away at 00:32 on Monday, 4th of August, after suffering a crash in the ninth round of the Supersport World Championship at Brands Hatch in Kent, UK, on Sunday, 3rd of August. He had been fighting for the lead in the race when the accident happened, leaving him with serious head injuries.

8/2/08 - Valentino Rossi wins the GP at Laguna Seca
The three-way 2008 800cc MotoGP World Championship race had closed up again after the German Grand Prix, where Casey Stoner (with Ducati) won and Dani Pedrosa (with Honda) crashed. After ten races, Valentino Rossi (with Yamaha) was just twenty points ahead of third man Stoner. That event had been wet, but the contenders could surely expect different in round eleven.

7/13/08 - Casey Stoner masters the rains in German GP
Two wins in a row had brought Ducati rider Casey Stoner back into contention not far behind MotoGP leaders Dani Pedrosa and Valentino Rossi. The German Grand Prix was round ten, and the Sachsenring race had been dominated by Pedrosa and Honda in 2007. Even with only two wins at this stage, his consistency this season has been the key to being on top - so far.

Round eight of the 2008 MotoGP World Championship had seen reigning champion Casey Stoner back to his convincing best on the Ducati, but with Valentino Rossi on the Yamaha and Dani Pedrosa on the Honda scoring points to keep them comfortably ahead of the Australian overall. Would he close up or drop further behind in the Dutch TT at Assen, round nine?

6/27/08 - Back at the front for Casey Stoner in MotoGP
Recent races in the 2008 MotoGP World Championship were suggesting a title battle between Fiat Yamaha rider Valentino Rossi and Repsol Honda man Dani Pedrosa. These were the two most consistent contenders, but there had also been handy promise shown by rookie Jorge Lorenzo and reigning title holder Casey Stoner. The British Grand Prix was round eight.

6/19/08 - Airwaves dominate Snetterton BSB as Camier wins
Having been beaten only twice in British Superbike races so far this year, Airwaves Ducati rider Shane ‘Shakey’ Byrne was in command of the title race for 2008. Round five brought the teams and riders to Snetterton, where perhaps it would be the turn of Honda to set the pace, especially as the weight limit changes were finally set.

His round six win had been at home in the Italian GP at Mugello, but now it was back to Spain for round seven, giving home advantage to his two main rivals. Would Dani Pedrosa or Jorge Lorenzo do the job in the Catalunya Grand Prix?

6/7/08 - Bruce Anstey back on top at the Isle of Man TT
Just two days after being stripped of the win in the first Relentless Supersport Junior TT race, Bruce Anstey put the disappointment behind him to roar to victory in Wednesday’s second Junior TT. The New Zealander enjoyed a nip and tuck battle with AIM Yamaha’s Ian Hutchinson on lap one, but pushed home his advantage over the next three laps to storm to victory by more than 34 seconds over Hutchy.
