8/21/10 - Seventh win for Jorge Lorenzo in Czech Grand Prix
Fiat Yamaha rider Jorge Lorenzo had won again in the USA and, with nearest rival Dani Pedrosa crashing out, the 24-year-old was even further ahead in the 2010 FIM MotoGP World Championship. The tenth round of the series was at Brno in the Czech Republic, where Lorenzo had previously won three times and Pedrosa twice, but with Valentino Rossi a seven-time former victor.
7/30/10 - Lorenzo wins and Pedrosa crashes in US Grand Prix
Valentino Rossi was back, but Fiat Yamaha team-mate Jorge Lorenzo remained in control in the 2010 FIM MotoGP World Championship. The Spaniard was continuing with only first or second place finishes, although arguably a bigger splash was made by Rossi, back in Germany so soon after injury and almost making it onto the podium.
7/20/10 - Pedrosa wins in Germany, Rossi back in action
23-year-old Jorge Lorenzo was leading the way in the 2010 FIM MotoGP World Championship, the Fiat Yamaha rider helped by the absence of team-mate Valentino Rossi. Five wins from seven races meant he was in control, but nearest challenger Dani Pedrosa could still pose a threat with a run of victories on the Repsol Honda.
7/16/10 - Jorge Lorenzo wins again in Catalan Grand Prix
Valentino Rossi had already missed three Grands Prix through injury, and Fiat Yamaha team-mate Jorge Lorenzo had won two of these, to add to two previous victories. The 2010 FIM MotoGP World Championship was now between Lorenzo and the pair of Repsol Honda riders, whichever could go on to mount the most consistent challenge.
7/5/10 - Lorenzo wins and Stoner on the podium at Assen GP
There had been another win for Fiat Yamaha racer Jorge Lorenzo at Silverstone, putting him even more in command of the 2010 FIM MotoGP World Championship in the absence of team-mate Valentino Rossi. Repsol Honda’s Dani Pedrosa had finished a lowly eighth, widening the overall gap between the two Spaniards in the points table.
6/26/10 - Jorge Lorenzo wins on MotoGP return to Silverstone
Following an injury that took Valentino Rossi out of contention, the 2010 FIM MotoGP World Championship looked like it could be going in the direction of his Fiat Yamaha team-mate Jorge Lorenzo, who had already been leading the Italian. But the race at Mugello had been won by Repsol Honda rider Dani Pedrosa, and at this stage the title race was far from over.
6/8/10 - Rossi is out and Pedrosa wins in Italian MotoGP race
Fiat Yamaha rider Valentino Rossi had not been at full fitness, which had seemingly given the edge to team-mate Jorge Lorenzo in the second and third rounds of the 2010 FIM MotoGP World Championship. But round four was taking place at Rossi’s second home, the Mugello circuit in Italy, where he had won nine Grands Prix, including a seven year spell unbeaten.
5/25/10 - Jorge Lorenzo wins again in French MotoGP race
With just two races gone, the 2010 FIM MotoGP World Championship was looking a bit like another contest between Fiat Yamaha team-mates Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo. Honda and Ducati riders had also looked fast, but at this stage only the Fiat pair had been on the podium in both Qatar and Spain. The third race would be taking place in France, where Lorenzo had won in 2009.
5/7/10 - Home win for Lorenzo in Spanish MotoGP
The 2010 FIM MotoGP World Championship had opened with a win for reigning champion Valentino Rossi, the Italian taking another race victory for Fiat Yamaha as the season began under floodlights in Qatar. From there the teams had been due to move on to Japan, where Rossi’s team-mate Jorge Lorenzo had won in 2009. Instead, round two ended up being held in Spain.
4/13/10 - Rossi wins and Stoner goes out in Qatar GP
MotoGP 2010 started with the floodlit night race at the seventh Qatar Grand Prix. The first event of the new season, like the floodlights themselves, would hopefully throw some light on what could be expected on track in the coming months. There would be a mix of familiar competitors and new faces, and if it lives up to the contest seen in 2009 there should be plenty of spectacle.
3/15/10 - Biographical rider entry list for MotoGP in 2010
The 2010 FIM MotoGP World Championship series: The new season of racing starts on the 11th of April, in Qatar, when Yamaha M1 rider Valentino Rossi will start the defence of his latest title. Here are the essential details on who’s who among the riders this year.
11/8/09 - Final race of 2009 goes to Dani Pedrosa
Valentino Rossi had won the 2009 MotoGP World Championship in Malaysia, and there was just one race left for the multiple champion on this season’s Fiat Yamaha M1. Valencia in Spain hosted round 17, a venue where the Italian had won twice, but not since 2004. His rivals Dani Pedrosa and Casey Stoner had won in the last two visits, with Dani a four-time winner here.
11/8/09 - More wins for BSB champ Camier at Oulton
23-year-old Airwaves Yamaha rider Leon Camier had secured the 2009 British Superbike Championship title at Silverstone, something that had looked almost inevitable after he won four of the first five races this year. The wins had kept on coming, and now the Oulton Park season finale offered a triple header in which Leon might be able to break yet more records.
11/8/09 - Leon Camier is new British Superbike champ
Stuart Easton had been a first time British Superbike winner at Croft, but still Airwaves Yamaha rider Leon Camier had closed in towards the 2009 championship title, winning race two. With five races left, the 23-year-old needed just 26 points even if James Ellison won them all. Another win for Leon would deny his team-mate, and Silverstone was somewhere Leon had won at in 2008.
11/8/09 - First BSB race win for Stuart Easton at Croft
Even with an exclusion from race two at Cadwell Park, Airwaves Yamaha rider Leon Camier remained the man on form in the 2009 British Superbike Championship, and he still led the way by almost 100 points on arrival at Croft. Two wins at round ten could seal the title for Leon, depending on whether team-mate James Ellison could follow him home both times. Would Leon do it?
10/25/09 - Rossi champion as Stoner wins the race
Casey Stoner was back on top form, but second place in Australia had almost assured Valentino Rossi of the 2009 MotoGP World Championship crown, given that his nearest rival had crashed out. Fiat Yamaha team-mates Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo were now separated by 38 points, with the Italian needing just one fourth place finish to make sure. Malaysia hosted round sixteen.
10/20/09 - Another home GP win for Casey Stoner
A win in Portugal for Fiat Yamaha rider Jorge Lorenzo took him to 18 points behind team-mate Valentino Rossi in the 2009 MotoGP World Championship, as the Italian was only fourth. But round fifteen of the series would be at Phillip Island in Australia, where Rossi had won seven times in the past. But then Lorenzo was amongst a number of former winners at the same venue.
10/4/09 - Lorenzo dominates Portuguese MotoGP
Valentino Rossi had won the San Marino GP, his sixth victory of the season, to extend his MotoGP World Championship advantage over Fiat Yamaha team-mate Jorge Lorenzo to thirty points. Round fourteen was at Estoril in Portugal, where Rossi had won five previous Grands Prix, but also where Lorenzo had been a first time MotoGP victor in 2008. Would they battle it out here?
9/14/09 - No BSB double for Leon Camier at Cadwell
Could Airwaves Yamaha rider Leon Camier possibly lose the 2009 British Superbike Championship, having won fourteen of seventeen races? Even if his form dipped, had anyone else shown enough consistent pace to mount a late challenge? Indeed, were the Honda, Suzuki and Kawasaki machinery truly capable of challenging the Yamaha YZF-R1 as campaigned by GSE Racing?
